Tropical Fruit Salad

I had these 4 x 12" gallery wraps, and decided to use one for this little tropical painting .

Although I have painted on these lovely horizontal or vertical formats before, they have always been large ..More like 12 x 48" or similar.

This was fun, although I found it a challenge to paint this small image, somehow a square is better for me? . My last post was 6 x 12" and that too felt awkward for me, however I do feel it is a good thing to change it up sometimes. Get away from the norm. What do you think?

This is an oil on gallery wrap.

Vantage Point, Lago Vista

This little oil painting on canvas began as a plein air painting. I was with the Austin Plein Air Group and we took off to paint parts of Lago Vista one hot morning. I recall the day got awfully hot, and I finished early as a result.
Reminds me why I do not enjoy plein air painting that much especially our summer months here in Texas. Brutal !

Anyway, it was while I was cleaning out my canvasses today I found this almost finished one, and thought what the heck, and decided to finish it off for memory.

Attention Everybody!

This is another oil on gallery wrap canvas.
I love to play with colors as you might tell by this one :)
I have to say these flowers are quite possibly the hardest I have ever tackled, have painted them in the past, wonder why I keep coming back to them? Mental Artist Cruelty? Or just plain MENTAL?

Timeless Hideaway

This scene was just outside of Branson, Missouri.

I stumbled on the area while taking photos just off the main road. Just goes to show, some gems for photographers and artists are often well hidden out of sight.

I was thrilled to get some great shots of these reflections, and although I painted a very large acrylic of this area a few years back (it was 36" x 48"), this one was a greater challenge for me to fit the desired info into such a small format, this one is 8" x 10" and is in oils.

Aussie Respite

This is a small gouache on watercolor paper.
I have done this scene before although then I used pastels .
Just changing the medium on the same scene will change your colors I feel, this was a challenge and for the most part I am happy with it.

Roiling Sky, Central Texas

Roiling Sky was done from a photo I took while on the train to Austin from Dallas. This massive storm was building and the colors were raw and magnificent!
I think the fields were wheat, or maybe even safron, but the color was this rich orangy yellow.
This is an oil painting, thought I would get back into that medium for a while :)

Afternoon Stroll, Provence

This 6 x 6" acrylic on canvas is another scene from the area of the asylum where Van Gogh was in St Remy . On my walk through this area it was awesome to wonder if Van Gogh himself painted this very area I was strolling.
Sound like a groupie huh? Well I am, I LOVE his work!
