Fireglow

Recently here in Texas, we experienced the worst wildfire disaster in history.Many people lost everything.

This painting is born completely from the raw feelings and aftermath of this tragedy.
As an Australian, I am not new to wildfires, and have to say for something so terrifying in the moment, as a lowly artist I felt I had to record the beauty and awe of NATURE in all her glory.
This is a 24 x 48" oil, on gallery wrap canvas.

It will be on display in The Group of Four Show at the Round Rock Artspace during from November 30th through the month of December.

In Van Gogh's Footsteps. SOLD!

In Van Gogh's Footsteps is another of my Provence memories.

This trail was behind the asylum which housed Van Gogh for many months while he was so ill.
He is said to have painted in the immediate area and I like to think this was a pathway he traversed often, hence I imagine I have "painted in his footsteps".

River Crossing

This is a 24 x 36" oil.
The challenge for me in this one to make the horses look natural splashing in the water.
I used many photographs of horses for this one, the feet of some belong to others for example.

Passage of Time

I had the best title for this one while I was painting it, now it's completely gone from my head.Grrr!

The cactus was one I took photos of at a friend's ranch last year, the chasm is completely made up.I just love color and the high horizon theme, however it does make one think about resolving the lower two thirds of the painting ..

To assist my thinking, I took step by step photos of this while I painted it, maybe I will post them in time. It would certainly show you all what a metamophosis it went through.

I think it very healthy as artists to see our work change in the process, this one was compositionally just not working for me, and seeing it on my computer in the various stages, helped a bunch.

A Moment With Monet. SOLD!

These are the steps into Monet's studio in Giverney in France.

I had the most wonderful day there on my recent trip to Provence, wandering through the gardens, conjuring up Monet and his many days spent painting in (maybe) the very spots I was walking. Something very special about that huh?

Harbor Glow SOLD

Harbor Glow is a commission painting which has been on my easel for many months.

What with my elbow and soo many other distractions, this baby got left on the very back burner. I know, excuses, excuses, but it's TRUE!!
