Sofala Town 1

Sofala is a town in the northwest region of Sydney near where I teach at the Charles Sturt University in Australia..It was a gold mining township in the early to mid 1880's & is like a step back in time even now.
After a week of teaching at the university back in 2004, another artist pal of mine & myself went there to take photos & generally 'hang out' with the townsfolk. A real treat.
For the most part, this painting is done with pastel pencils, an easy medium for me with plein air painting.
