A Thing of Beauty

Okay I promise this will be the last of my florals for a while, I don't want to be known for florals..only.
Another fun painting though, acrylic abstract base, and the floral superimposed over the top of it.

Maidens in the Morning

I wonder how many artists truly love their own work? Well, this one I personally do love, it came together for me, in every way. I was very happy that I stayed in the higher key colors, quite a stretch for me, as I love the drama of the middle values and darks. This is also in my May Show at Austin Artspace.

Tumblin'

I have done this scene before, a pastel.
This time it was was done in acrylics, very quickly I might add. The whole painting took me an hour and a half. Sometimes they come together like that don't they.
I love the richness of color contrast in this painting. The underlying reds and oranges gives an otherwise 'BROWN ' painting a lift. This will also be in the May show. Come and see it for yourself. PLEASE!!

Seduction

Well here I go again, another floral. Who would have thought it huh?
It's an acrylic done with an abstract underlay, and then the flowers over the top. Can get confusing when painting this type of artwork, but I love this ambiguity, no real background, just 'stuff'.
This will also be in the May show at Austin Artspace.

Koi Fish and Patterns

This was a joy to paint, it came from a total abstract, and out of that, grew the koi fish, a favourite subject for me to paint. Having lived so long in Hawaii, koi become very prevelant in paintings, they are all over the islands, in malls and hotels.
This painting will also be in my group show at Austin Artspace in May.

Extravaganza. SOLD!

I have never considered myself a floral artist, but it seems I might be one after all. I am placing this in my upcoming group show at Austin Artspace. It's an acrylic on canvas and I so love the energy and movement I am able to get with this medium.
A little of my signature geometry is starting to creep into this one, and in others which followed. I used to do this a lot with paintings, balance geometry against a natural shape. It tends (for me) to focus the subject more.
This painting does not have much of that, however it's a beginning.

Almost Home

I am preparing for a show with 3 of my art buddies, in May. This painting was painted expressly for this show, & will be on display at Austin Artspace from May 10th through 23rd May, I hope you will try to come and see the display.
