I was lucky enough to find a lovely piece of lavender blue suede matboard at a framers the other day. He GAVE me a few off cuts, wonderful!
I had this photo Australia, who knows where (I can't recall) it could be any number of wonderful Aussie scenes I visited.
The light in my home country Down Under is amazing, clear and bright, especially close to the center of Australia. I thought these colors would look great on this blue suede paper, what do you think? You can see touches of this original color matboard in the central band of this painting.
Of course the gumtrees always look wonderful over there, so many soft grays and mauves, to bounce warm colors off, for an artist this a great thing.
How I miss my wonderful country at times, doing an Australiana painting occasionally helps my homesicknessness :)

Yup, you've caught the light beautifully, reminds me of one of Hazel's, only in your bolder style! This is a winner!
Well thanks Sue, I take that a HUGE compliment.
For anyone who does not know, Hazel is my aged aunt who was a wonderful artist. She is in fact one of my mentors.
Thanks again Sue.
Amazing! You won't believe this, but I have a photo taken in France at the West Mill that is almost exactly like this scene. When I first saw it I thought that was it. Beautiful job.
Hugs,
Vic
Love those colors! The blues are magical.

This is charming. Love the colors and the relaxed slant of the trunks. Lovely.

Thanks everyone for your comments on this one, after doing this sort of Aussie landscape I feel a 'need' to do more, wonder why we seem to work like that? I do at least, get on one theme/track,then zoom...off on a tangent to another. Oh well, that's the flight of a flighty artist I guess:)

Okay Diane, let's go!!
Really nice painting.
I love the flow of the composition and the color harmony.
I hope you haven't been touched by the tragedy in Queensland.
Thanks Mary, and in answer to your question re the floods, I hope and pray my friends are all okay, my relatives live further down the coast, so they are fine.
It's such a tragedy, not unlike our own Katrina and Ike aftermath.
