Texas artist Rae Andrews, paintings in all media and genre. She is an Australian ex-pat who moved to Maui in the early 1990's where she owned two art galleries .. she now resides in Texas where she conducts workshops both in the USA, Australia and Europe.

It Takes A Village
This pastel is in step by step form in my new book.
I did this one on sanded Sennelier paper which is becoming my paper of choice again.
It's a little rough on the fingertips until the grain of the paper gets filled. (yikes)
Although as a rule, I don't usually smudge and merge the pastel unless the painting is a skyscape or seascape.
The sunset is merged with my fingers. I 'sculpted' the clouds this way.All other areas of this painting are not smudged.
