I (for the first time) used a velour covered matboard for this one,(which I bought from my framer) a rust color, it worked well for me.
It stayed rigid and (as with nearly all my other pastels on velour), I did not have to spray mount the paper myself, so it has knocked out one step, making room for more painting, always a good thing huh?

I remember this kitty, named Allie Cat, and the beautiful garden his owner Ken Drosh had, and you've captured both exactly. Great painting, and I love the Talavera (turtle?) next to Allie Cat.
This is great. Sounds like the mat board can save a lot of work. :)
Love it! I want to reach into the painting and pet her!

Thanks everyone, and Sue, I never did know the kitty's name, thanks for telling me. Yes I think it is a talavera turtle, lovely splash of colors amongst the plants.
Very great fun to paint this one.
beautiful. I am SUCH a cat lover.
Thanks for your comments Mary, I love kitties too, such personalities.
