Medieval 17^th century convent , now an artist retreat, nestled in the village of Frayssinet in Southwest France, the painting opportunities abound. It’s quiet and charming, just the place to park your easels.

Scenic towns, villages, rivers, castles, and superb flowers and gardens await artists and photographers alike.

Cost includes:

Fabulous meals (except one dinner and two lunches), wine, single or double room accommodation with en suite in most, transportation to and from Toulouse airport, all plein air  day trips. **A  full  studio in which to paint  open 24/7  is also available to us. And of course tuition with Rae .

*** Rae will mainly demonstrate in watercolor, and how she approaches her travel journals ; as well as larger format watercolors. She will show you lots of techniques she has amassed over her 40 plus years of teaching.

 As  she also  paints and teaches in all  mediums, she encourages students bring  whichever medium they love, and she provide ‘at easel ‘ personal instruction to those students not painting in watercolor..

RAE'S STORY..

A full time artist I work and teach in all mediums. Oils, Pastels, Watercolor, Acrylics.

I am an Aussie ex-pat, a past owner of a 400 student art school in Sydney, Australia, two art galleries on the island of Maui, and been teaching art for over 45 years. 

I LOVE the freshness of leaving the white of the paper with my watercolors.

I am an intuitive artist, and consider myself playful with my works, always trying to challenge my creativity, however always mindful of design, color and values. I believe this makes my work unique and exciting for my viewer. I show techniques and tools with which the artist can  be minimal in their approach, and not get caught in all the details.

This workshop is designed for all levels of experience. Students will work en plein air in both painting and sketching, coming away from this fun week with a myriad  of ideas for use in their own works. Although this workshop is a watercolor workshop and Rae's demos will be in this medium, Rae welcomes other media and offers instruction in them all.

Bastrop Lost Pines Convention, Texas...Texas Artist Rae Andrews teaching Pastels!

     

Pastel Workshop With Rae Andrews

at Lost Pines Regional Arts Conference

A CONVENTION  for artists is being organized in Bastrop by the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild for the month of September 2105.

The event is offering over 100 art classes, demonstrations, lectures, and workshops; all in historic downtown Bastrop, Texas.!

I have been asked to conduct two classes in the PASTEL MEDIUM.

Day one will be LANDSCAPE

     

Day two will be SEASCAPE/WATERSCAPE

                          

  

Cost for Rae's class …$150 a day per student 10:00am -3:00pm (This includes a box lunch choice)

About the artist:

Rae has a penchant for color, drama and movement in all her works.  Students will see  her techniques for layering color over color to achieve the exciting resulting hues. Rae discusses the finer points of DESIGN and composing a painting. Her use of movement throughout a painting will also be discussed.

Each day begins with a demonstration. Students will then have paint time for most of the lesson, with a short lunch break around 12:30pm.

If you feel you need a 'lift; with your pastel work, consider coming along. This will be a fun filled two days!

Critique sessions will be held at the completion of each day.
