Queen For A Day...SOLD!..Pastel Semi - Abstract..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This began as a demo for Pastel Society of Southeast Texas near Houston, last Saturday. I had a great time, conducting a mini workshop after the demo, lots of eager and enthusiastic artists.

I began with my favorite abstract beginning with this one, of acrylics thrown onto the surface, let dry, then superimpose the subject over the painted marks.

It was a new technique to all who cam to the workshop and demo I think, and they did very well!

This image is unframed and is pastel on a sanded board.
9" x 24"
This image has SOLD!

Prints are available through Fine Art America:

Below are some of the workshop photos. The first shows the action with blowing the paint with a drinking straw. My demo piece was an already dried piece of sanded board that I had from home though. Not sure what I will do with the really wild colored one, but rest assured, it will become something!

I turn the board all ways, to assess which format I might like.

The flowers are beginning to shape up.

 Some of my lovely students.

Critique session.
