 This fun image is on Fabriano CP Paper .. It's of an abandoned old car I found on Maui when I lived there. The rooster was not there though, and the scene is basically made up, to fit my title of ISLAND ROOST.

Chicken Hop..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

  This watercolor was fun to paint.. I threw a few colors onto a Crescent Watercolor Panel and waited till it dried. 

I then referred  to my photos of chickens a roosters, and began to find areas I could place them.

My intention was not to be literal, merely lost and found. A surprise so to speak.

This original watercolor is presented unframed.

I had this small piece of velour paper in my files and decided to just do this study of a Maui rooster. I rarely paint this small, but hate to waste this gorgeous paper. Hope you like..

Ruffled Feathers..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Ruffled Feathers was an unfinished demo started quite a while ago. I did not want to waste the Sennelier (full sheet) of paper, so decided to try and redeem the image to a finished product.

Here is the image completed.. I am posting the steps of this below ..
I used three of my own photos and combined the chickens in the one painting.

This one is all pastel. Sennelier paper is a sanded paper and cannot (very successfully) have any wet media like alcohol on it, however, I have done that in the past too. It's tricky though, and I would not advise it.

I did crop some off the outer edges, and feel  it looks better for doing that.
