Street Scene Charm.. Watercolor...Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This little scene is from Saint Martin De Vers in France.
I just wandered around the little village and found some lovely little vignettes to paint later in my studio.
One could get a whole gallery of paintings out of this village.

Martha's Mayhem.....Watercolor...Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This image is of the GINGER BREAD HOUSES on Martha's Vineyard.
They are so quaint, although I haven't seen them personally yet, it's a bucket list trip I have.
I have used my signature deliberate distortion when drawing these, just for more effect.

Castelnaud, France..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This scene is of Castelnaud in France, a place full of vignettes for the artist to sketch. We visited a great castle here, and saw some random shows put on by the staff in period costume, great fun.

Comares Backstreet..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I loved this mountain town in Spain, such a lot of back alleys and fun white buildings.

Comares is a mountain town, perched very high up on a mountain, and sprawling over lots of hills and valleys.

One needs their walking shoes and lots of water to negotiate the many streets. Oh and a map! I got lost a few times.

This image is on Fabriano CP Paper.

Portofino Street Scene..Watercolor..Terxas Artist..Rae Andrews

This scene is in Portofino Italy.. I loved this place, the small fishing area and all the bright buildings, just the reflections in the water alone and all the boats made for many paintings.
However, I stuck to building with this image and used my topsy turvy technique of deliberate distortion..

This technique makes (for me at least) the process of angles and perspective, a joy to draw.

Little House On The Hill..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I loved painting this urban sketch. The house I believe was in Alaska. Although it was not as tumbledown as this image shows, that's just me and my deliberate distortion I have been playing with in these sketches.

Hope you like this one.

Watercolor Sketch ..Town Center..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I was trying for deliberate distortion here. Just to make it more fun.still not quite there.
This is done on Arches CP paper and is 8” x 8” in size.
I made the scene up, still experimenting with my Tombow watercolor gray scale markers first to get my values in, then I use watercolor with a brush.
