Street Scene Charm.. Watercolor...Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This little scene is from Saint Martin De Vers in France.
I just wandered around the little village and found some lovely little vignettes to paint later in my studio.
One could get a whole gallery of paintings out of this village.

This image is 11' x 14" unframed and on Fabriano CP Paper

An Artist's Retreat, Frayssinet....Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I made up the little figure in this scene, however the road and the houses are actually not far from LE VIEUX COUVENT  where I will be teaching in May.

This area is just lovely for the artist.

Charm personified!

This image is 12" x 16" unframed.

Prints will soon be available through Fine Art America:

Freshly Plowed..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I have done this scene before in acrylics on canvas. Who knows, I might do it again in oils.

A friend gave me this photo, thanks MJ..
I loved it! The colors, the panorama, the distance, it's a painting waiting to happen! I believe it's a scene near Blanco here in Texas.

Morning Walk, Frayssinet, France..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This pastel is done on red sandpaper. The original is not for sale however prints may be purchased through my Fine Art America site.

Although the mornings were brisk in Frayssinet, I still managed a few walks and it was beautiful. The sun was just starting to warm the road and the light was magnificent.

Because the scene was so GREEN in actuality I decided to select a red substrate.

I hope you like this one.

Trail Blaze..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Another small pastel ..This one is on Pastel Premier paper. I quite like this substrate. It has a softer, finer tooth to the surface, and it's easy to handle.
I did not use any wet media on this one first, it's all pastel. Hope you like it.

Back Road..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

So many wonderful scenes to paint when we get onto the back roads. This one is slightly embellished, but has the feel for our Texas landscape.

I did this one on Pastel Premier Paper, which also takes wet media as an under base.
Great fun, and quick, wonderful for plein air painting.

Treeline on the Ridge..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This is a small little pastel on my mystery paper, have no clue what it is? I was tetsing it with the acrylic inks as an under base, as with the previous post, just to see how it went.

It passed enough for me to do the larger more detailed pastel i previously posed.

Fall Dazzle, Tennessee.. Watercolor Landscape.. Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This is an 11" x 14" watercolor on Arches paper.

It is unframed.

Dead End Respite..Watercolor Landscape..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Another unframed watercolor on Arches paper.

This one was fun to paint.
You all know how much I love color.

I veiled color on this after it was dry as well, to get that lemon glow.

Hope you all like it..
