Bountiful..Abstract Floral..Watercolor.. Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

Hot of the press! This is another 12" x 16" unframed watercolor on Arches paper.

Trying to stay as loose and 'playful' as I can with these florals.. Having a great deal of fun.

No pre-drawing at all involved, it's all allowing the paint to move and make the images.

Try it, you will certainly have to let go of all the disciplines of traditional watercolor.

This image comes unframed.
12" x 16"
$150 including S/H within the contiguous USA.

Prints available at Fine Art America:

Ascension..Abstract...Pastel over Liquid Acrylics...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

ASCENSION was a challenge, for me, however, a MOST rewarding one.

I am not one to overlay my pastels with other mediums. I usually just use pastel.

However, having won a whole bunch of art supplies recently (thank you Jack Richeson's Art Supplies) I had a lot of GATORBOARD.

These boards are a great surface for mixed media such as watercolor, acrylics and pastels.. All are happy to PLAY together on this surface.

So here is my PASTEL ABSTRACT effort on GATOR BOARD .

                                                           Image size is 6" x 9"
                                                                  $200 inc.S/H

Rhythm Of The Blues.. Liquid Acrylics and Watercolor

RHYTHM OF THE BLUES  is another mixed water media piece. I am having a ball doing these little ones, and boy oh boy, they make me think!
It's all about DESIGN  and 'feeling' the painting, rather than copying something verbatim from a reference photo.
I felt this one was very 'MUSICAL' perhaps with that shape in the upper right, it sort of looks like a guitar..Hmmm?
Either way, this one makes me want to dance!

                                                 Image size...4.25" x 10" (unframed)
                                                                  $100 Plus S/H

Turquoise Koi Patterns..Watercolor and Liquid Acrylics

This is another small design in readiness for my workshop tomorrow.
It is a great challenge to me, to try and make sense of the lines and shapes made in the first throw in of paints.
I used my GOLDEN FLUID LIQUID ACRYLICS and just let them 'play' on the surface, before finding the fish shapes. The fish were brought into focus with watercolor and negative painting.

If your work has become 'stagnant' and maybe a little (oh no!) PREDICTABLE) then maybe this fun start to painting is what you need.

The acrylics give a nice bright start on the paper and of course don't fade to a muted color as with watercolors. Any subject can be worked into this loose start, however one has to let go of realism, and be willing to have a slightly ambiguous subject in the end.

The white of the paper left behind after the acrylic 'throw' is most important.. Those lovely shapes are the 'saving grace' for a subject..

Try it, you will be challenged (true) however it is most rewarding when you finally get a subject to materialize.
